Our Very First Feature Vendor!
Updated: Apr 4, 2018
They say there is no such thing as coincidence, and I wholeheartedly agree. It is that 'coincidence' that brought us together to unanimously support Rowan House this month and a little bit more about our alignment with this worthy charity.
“Twice now, I have faced with what appears to be unsurmountable circumstance, and twice, different sistas have shown me that I am not alone. They have been there, nurturing and supporting me, holding me up high when I would have otherwise fallen.” ~ Sam Bell, The Mother Ship Founder
The first time is why I became a Circle Facilitator. Recognizing the power that these women had to support me when I needed it most, I wanted to bring that power to others who might find themselves in a similar circumstance. I started my very first circle 'Bats in the Belfry' 5 years ago.
This second time, I was reminded again how important it is that our established Circle reaches out to lift up as many women as we can as they face their seemingly insurmountable challenge. To do this, we needed to grow, and so we morphed into 'The Mother Ship'. Never forgetting how we started in my unfinished basement, this has become far more than me. This is 'us'. And together, the power and magic that is women coming together, will lift others up high, nurturing and supporting just as they did I.
Jung's theory of synchronicity says there are links between events beyond cause and effect. And time and time again, I am provided the evidence to prove his theory correct. There is no such thing as coincidence or accident.
Our two Crew Members, Irma and Alisia, (who will be taking over the helm of the Seton Mother Ship when she is at full sail) both, unbeknownst to me, are volunteers at Rowan House and have very special reasons for wanting to support this cause.
Irma says "It is so important to reach out and help women at this point of crisis because it is so key to their survival. As you know, my passion lies with empowering children especially teens, and I deeply respect the active community work Rowan House does in breaking the cycle of abuse by raising awareness amongst school children...."
Alisia adds "This is when women are at their most vulnerable. One, they need to escape the abuse and flee their home, and two, they are finding the courage and strength to avoid going back, and a way to create a new home that is safe for them and their children."
And so it is...
The Rowan House Emergency Shelter
Rowan House Emergency Shelter provides crisis intervention, long-term support and education for those affected by family violence in rural communities. Their goal is to provide women and their children a safe environment that nourishes feelings of self-worth, lends an opportunity for healing and personal growth, and provides temporary housing while facilitating transition back into the community. #domesticviolence #metoo
Last month, we featured Rowan House Society as our very FIRST Feature Vendor where they offered for sale a beautiful selection of Swarovski Jewelry, all donated to turn into $'s. Our guests helped raise $200, as well as adding our 50:50 donation! We are on a roll and so proud of our efforts that we have invited them back to our April event..
